The Roxy is an iconic venue which opened in September of 1973. The theater was responsible for bringing the stage play The Rocky Horror Picture Show to the United States in 1974, before it was made into a movie the following year.
Neil Young and Crazy Horse played at the Roxy for the first three nights that it was open. A few months later the original Genesis lineup performed multiple shows as well. Warren Zevon recorded one of the greatest ever live albums at the Roxy and an unknown, struggling comedian named Paul Ruebens appeared in 1981 and introduced his alter-ego, Pee Wee Herman.
