The Salem Diner is a historic diner located in Salem, Massachusetts, which opened in 1941. The diner car was created by the historic Sterling Streamliner Company which went out of business in 1942 and the Salem Diner car was one of the last they produced.
In 2013, Salem State University purchased the historic diner and its land looking to preserve a piece of local history and accommodate future campus expansion into the area. By 2019, high operating costs forced the university to close the diner and placed it for sale that same year. As of today, there have been no updates and this beautiful historic diner remains vacant.
The Salem Diner was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. This art print depicts the diner on a busy night in the 1970s.
