The R.M. Brooks General Store, located in Rugby, Tennessee, first opened in the early 1930s. The business traces its retail roots back to 1917, but the physical store building was constructed and opened during the Great Depression.
This iconic example of Americana features a wood-burning pot-bellied stove and an 1880s-era Rugby post office. They're also well known for their fried bologna sandwiches, "rat trap" cheese, and bottled sodas. I don't think there are any better examples of true Americana than these old general stores that have been around for generations.
