For my entire life I have been fascinated with lighthouses. As a lifelong New Englander I grew up around so many of these amazing structures and have always been drawn to them. Whenever I'm near the coast I make it a point to visit these landmarks, and I am always in awe of their beauty and of their historic value.
Pigeon Point Lighthouse is a historic 115-foot tower on the San Mateo County coast in Pescadero, California. Built in 1871 and first lit in 1872, it is one of the tallest lighthouses in the United States and remains an active Coast Guard aid to navigation.
