The Palomino Motel located on Route 66 in Tucumcari, New Mexico is vintage Americana at its finest.
The Palomino opened in 1953 as a classic motor court. It featured a U-shaped layout with an attached garage for every room. Can you even imagine checking into a motel and having a garage that goes with your room?
The motel has retained it's classic original charm, although the garages were replaced sometime during the sixties in order to add more guest rooms. The original neon sign which featured a snorting horse was also replaced sometime during the sixties and replaced with the current neon and bulb sign. This art print depicts the Palomino during the era of the sixties.
