As a proud lifelong New Englander I am obsessed with clam shacks, lobster houses and small family-owned, waterside seafood spots. These small seafood shacks and lobster houses aren't just place to eat, they're part of New England's culture.
Many of the traditional seafood shacks grew out of the commercial fishing industry itself. Many began as tiny operations where lobster fishermen or clammers sold part of the day's catch directly from a dock or roadside stand. Over time, picnic tables, fryers, and hand-painted signs were added, and these dockside stands slowly evolved into these beloved seafood locations.
McLoon's Lobster Shack is a family owned Maine lobster shack located on Spruce Head Island, across from the area’s oldest working lobster wharf. You can actually sit and watch local lobstermen unload their day’s catch, while experience incredible sunset view.
