Kennon's Cafe in Mebane, North Carolina, was a popular local gathering spot during the late 1930s, serving as a key meeting place for farmers and locals working at the town's tobacco and furniture industries.
If you've checked out any of my other art prints in this Americana series, you likely noticed that several of my prints were sourced from photographs taken by Farm Security Administration (FSA) photographers, that were commissioned by this agency to travel the country and document life during those times. Perhaps the most well known FSA photographer (and my personal favorite) is Marion Post Wolcott, an award winning photographer in her time who took some of the most iconic photos of the era, including a classic black and white of Kennon's Cafe. Much of her work is now part of the Library of Congress collection.

A NOTE ABOUT DIGITAL ART: Art Prints are created using a combination of AI technology, Procreate (with custom Impasto effect brushes) and Photoshop. Some visual elements in this artwork may have been created using AI technology, and then refined through manual editing in Procreate and/or Photoshop (lettering/signs/logos) to enhance and create the final design.
