This print features the Flamingo Jazz Club as well as the famous and equally iconic Whiskey A Go-Go. Both clubs were located in Soho London, with the Whiskey on the third floor of the building while the Flamingo Club was in the basement.
The Flamingo Jazz Club became a hotbed for musical innovation and creativity. Established in the early 1950s, the club became a renowned Jazz venue by the middle of the 1960s attracting some of the most legendary names in Jazz and R&B.
The Whiskey A Go-Go opened between 1959 and 1960 and served mostly as a rock venue although it was also known for its R&B acts well. During the 1970s the Whiskey operated as a discotheque before transitioning again to a pre-punk underground club.
