Fern's Texaco, also known to locals as Fern's Cafe, opened in 1951 by Fern and Mac McCurdie and it quickly became a favored, 24-hour pitstop for both local residents and cross-country Route 66 travelers.
Sadly, tragedy struck and the couple were killed in a car accident in 1955, leaving Mac's brother, Jack McCurdie to take over and run the business. By 1969, a new interstate took traffic away from the original Route 66 causing the diner to close its doors in 1969. The Texaco station remained open until 1977.
Fern's is another beautiful example of classic Americana. This art print depicts Fern's in the 1950's. • Digitally Printed. • Printed with a Matte Finish on Heavy Duty Archival Paper • 200 GSM Heavy Weight Paper • Frame is not included.
