Delgadillo's Snow Cap Drive-In is a famous, kitschy roadside eatery built in 1953 by Juan Delgadillo.

Located on Route 66 in Seligman, Arizona, it is well-known for its colorful decor, homemade milkshakes and classic American diner food. Delgadillo's is the very definition of classic Americana.

Owner Juan Delgadillo was working on a railroad in the early 1950's and with a tiny budget built the Snow Cap Drive-in using scraps of lumber. To attract drivers, he cut the roof off a 1936 Chevrolet, decorated it with horns and a fake Christmas tree, and placed it out in front of the diner.

The interior restaurant space is the definition of kitsch, with visitors adding business cards, stickers, foreign currency, road maps and various ephemera picked up on their travels. The outdoor garden area is adorned with statues, old cars, road sign and anything else that found it's way into the collection.

Juan Delgadillo himself was a local legend, known for his larger than life, playful personality and sense of humor. His menu included items such as a "cheeseburger with cheese" and "dead chicken". The sign on the door reads "Sorry, we're open", and he even installed two door knobs on the entrance, one on each side. One is dummy, the other opens the door. Apparently he got a kick out of watching visitors trying to figure out how to get in. You get the point.
