The building that is now the First Avenue Club in Minneapolis Minnesota was a bus station until 1968. When Greyhound relocated, a 25 year old Minneapolis native had a vision for the space, and after securing finances, a business partner and a liquor license the space was renovated and opened as a rock club in 1970.
The club is recognized today as one of the longest running independently owned and operated clubs in the United States.
The venue hosted an amazing array of national and local acts, including Frank Zappa, The Allman Brothers, B.B. King Rod Stewart, The Ramones, Pat Benatar and U2. And that was just the 70's.
By the 1980's Prince had made the club his regular venue, the club was a testing ground for his new music and a place to "rehearse" live onstage. And of course, First Avenue was the backdrop as well as a major filming location for Purple Rain.
This premium art print would is perfect for music enthusiasts and historians and will look great in your music room.
