The Fox Theater in Atlanta Georgia is one of the most iconic and historic theaters in the United States. The Fox Theater opened in 1929 showcasing movies, opera, dances and other live acts. The theater continued to thrive until shifting trends in the 1960s led to neglect and by 1974 the Fox Theater was closed and facing demolition.
Local fought to save the theater forming the Atlanta Landmarks organization and launched a "Save The Fox" campaign raising $3 million dollars primarily through donations and successfully restored the theater which reopened in 1975.
Southern Rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd appeared for three nights, July 7-8-9 in 1976 recording their live masterpiece One More From The Road.
