For my entire life I have been fascinated with lighthouses. As a lifelong New Englander I grew up around so many of these amazing structures and have always been drawn to them. Whenever I'm near the coast I make it a point to visit these landmarks, and I am always in awe of their beauty and of their historic value.
Cape Cod has been a second home to me since I was very young and over the years I've managed to visit all of the lighthouses on the Cape. Race Point Light is one of my favorites. It is located in Provincetown which is located at the very tip of the Cape on the peninsula which is my favorite part of the Cape. The original structure was built in 1816 and was the third lighthouse erected in Massachusetts. The original structure was decaying so it was replaced with this current structure in 1876.
