One of my favorite places to go when I'm on the Cape is to visit Provincetown. Provincetown is a historic seaside town on the northern tip of Cape Cod and is quintessential New England. The town is well known for Commercial Street which is lined with shops, clam shacks, restaurants and art galleries. Provincetown is also home to many commercial fishing boats.
Provincetown is also well know for Captain Jack's Wharf. It’s one of the most iconic spots on Provincetown’s wharf, people flock to the wharf to catch a glimpse of the house that Captain Jack built. The real life, Captain Jackson Williams was a trap fisherman from the area who owned several boats.
Around the time of the turn-of-the-century, Captain Jack applied for permission to build a wharf out into the harbor from his own property. As time went on, he expanded the wharf and later began renting out his shacks and sheds to fellow fishermen, and eventually to tourists.
