The Checker Board Lounge opened in 1972 and was located on the South Side of Chicago at 423 E 43rd St. Legendary blues artist Buddy Guy was co-owner of the club which hosted and unbelievable list of musical acts including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Magic Slim, Muddy Waters, The Rolling Stones, and of course, Buddy Guy himself.
In 1985 Guy left his partnership to open Buddy Guy's Legends club also in Chicago. In 2003, Checker Board moved to a new location after structural damage to the building was discovered, and the club closed in 2015 after the death of its owner.
