Tower Records Art Print Painting - Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles - Record Store

I grew up in what is considered to be the golden age of record stores between the mid seventies and early eighties and as a lifelong record collector,  I have a special place in my heart for record stores. 

I worked in a small independent record shop in throughout my high school years and worked in record shops throughout the entire decade of the eighties.   This was back in the day when there were record stores on every other corner and they were all unique.  Anytime I was visiting someplace I hadn't been before, the first thing I did was look to see where the record shops were. 

Founded in 1960, Tower Records grew from a small record business operating out of founder Russ Solomon's father's drugstore into one of the world's most influential music retailers. 

Tower expanded beyond Sacramento in the late 1960s, opening a landmark store in San Francisco in 1968 followed by the legendary Sunset Boulevard location in Los Angeles in 1970.     This art print features the Sunset Boulevard location. 

During its heyday, Tower Records grew into a global music empire, eventually operating more than 200 locations worldwide.
